Music Review: WZRD : WZRD (2012)

By Scott Jeffrey

Kid Cudi and Dot Da Genius collaborated to form WZRD.  In their debut album these lonely stoners decide to throw caution to the wind and make basically a rock record. Sampling from classics and creating some sweet jams is what WZRD does best, starting off spring with a great record.

Film Review: 21 Jump Street (2012)

By Aaron Jankowski

I have been guilty of trashing on Hollywood for recycling the same old story over and over, and have ragged on remakes and reboots.

But sometimes these reboots just click, and 21 Jump Street is one of those films.

Videogame Review: Dirt 3 (2011)

By Scott Jeffrey

As an avid racing game enthusiast I was not expecting a whole lot out of this game. It seems like Dirt 2 just came out not that long ago so I found it really hard to believe that much had changed between then and now. Within my first real rally though, a smile started to come across my face and I must admit this game is fun.

Film Review: Friends With Kids (2012)

By Scott Jeffrey

Friends With Kids is written and directed by Jennifer Westfeldt, Her partner John Hamm also agreed to kick in on this feature and star in a supporting role. The story is an interesting one, but for those expecting another comedy like Bridesmaids, as Friends With Kids have much of the same cast, prepare for a whole different experience.

Film Review: John Carter (2012)

By Aaron Jankowski

Disney’s John Carter, written and directed by Andrew Stanton, is a visual feast but loses a lot of steam when the warring stops and the talking starts.

John Carter stars Taylor Kitsch as the title role, and Lynn Collins as a princess of the alien race Helium, Dejah Thoris.

The film, based off of the series of books written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, starts off on Earth, as we are introduced to John Carter, a former captain of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War, as he is searching for a cave of gold.

Music Review: The Shins: Port Of Morrow (2012)

By Scott Jeffrey

“Here take a listen to this, it will change your life.” This is the moment in Garden State whereby many were introduced to The Shins. Now it has been a good many years since that film, and The Shins are still at it, albeit at a careful pace. Port of Morrow is the first release from The Shins in 5 years. It has got a back to basic sound that rings of Chutes Too Narrow, and the radio appeal of a few really great singles. This thing could also “Change Lives”.

Videogame Review: Mass Effect 3 (2012)

By Scott Jeffrey

Mass Effect 3 has become one of the most heavily criticized games since its release last Tuesday. I for one have actually got very little to criticise this game for. With so many user reviews feeling let down or cheated, I have to say I feel quite satisfied with this product, and found the end of the Mass Effect Series to be lasting and bittersweet.
